BGE Multifamily Quick Home Energy Checkup (QHEC) Program
ZERODRAFT MD was selected as a BGE Subcontractor to offer Multifamily Property Managers/Owners the opportunity to provide Green Energy Upgrades for their units at no cost. The program is designed to assist and educate tenants in ways to save energy in compliance with ‘Empower Maryland’ requirements that energy consumption be reduced 15% by the year 2015.
The QHEC Program: “Easy as 1-2-3”:
QHEC Energy Upgrades
A walk-through of a typical unit will be conducted with you and BGE Program Representatives to determine the number and type of specific energy-saving measures to be installed in each unit throughout the complex. Minimum Program Requirements typically include installing at least 2 faucet aerators, 1 showerhead, and 3 compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). Upgrades can include greater quantities of these energy conservation items, and can include water heater tank insulation and supply/return pipe insulation as well.

The upgrades become the permanent property of the Property Owner, who can then market the units as having received Green Energy Upgrades. While there is no cost to either the BGE tenant customer or Property Owner, some administration and coordination is required:
